Fees
Session Fees
50-minute session for an individual — $200
80-minute session for an individual — $275
80-minute session for couples and other configurations — $400
Payment Methods
I use Ivy Pay. Full payment is expected at the time of service unless otherwise agreed.
Fee Reduction
I hold a set number of appointments for lower-fee clients. I do not currently have lower-fee appointments available for regular, on-going clients. However, I welcome inquiries about getting on my waiting list for new lower-fee openings.
Dāna (generosity)
Lower-fee appointments are made possible in part through the direct giving of clients who choose to pay a higher fee or anyone who would like to support clients to receive services otherwise beyond their reach. I welcome hearing if this option is right for you, or if you have questions about how dāna works.

Additional Practice Policies
Session Length
I offer sessions that are 50 minutes or 80 minutes in length.
Most of my individual clients choose to have sessions that are 50 minutes long, although some prefer the spaciousness of a longer 80-minute session. When there are more people in a session, it can be helpful to have more time, so that each person has an opportunity to be fully expressed in the course of the session. Consequently, I recommend 80-minute sessions for counseling with two or more people.
Frequency of Sessions
Psychotherapy sessions are generally held once or twice weekly. If you would like to come in to see me more frequently, either on a regular basis, or an as-needed basis, I am happy to discuss what this may bring to the therapy and whether our schedules both allow it. Unless otherwise agreed, I work with clients on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, understanding that there will be holidays, vacations, and illnesses.
Cancellations
I charge for appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice unless we can find another time that week that works for us both.
Health Insurance and Reimbursement
I do not accept health insurance, however, some insurance providers will reimburse their members for psychological services. If you are uncertain about your health insurance provider's policy on this, I encourage you to call your benefits department and inquire about whether or not they reimburse for psychotherapy and to ask about any associated requirements or limitations. I am happy to provide you with a monthly statement of service that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Hours and Location
I can share with you in a phone conversation what hours I currently have available for a regular session time. I welcome hearing about your timing needs.
At this time, all of my sessions are virtual, either by video or phone. Given the right conditions, ecotherapy or outdoor therapy may be an option. When in-person sessions are available again, services will generally take place in a physical office. I welcome hearing which option is right for you. I do not conduct regular counseling services via email or chat.
After we agree on an initial appointment time, I will share with you instructions for arriving at the first session.
Phone
My confidential office voicemail number is 510.550.5410. You can feel free to call this number 24 hours a day. I am generally able to return phone messages within 24 hours Monday through Friday.
