How do we plan for joy in relationships? What happens when our plans fall apart?
It makes sense that people enter into relationships that bring them happiness and positive feelings — feelings that they want to continue. But despite their best intentions, people often find themselves in downward spirals of relationship negativity and the spark beginning to fade.
Our plans for lasting joy fall apart in part because we don't know the psychological and cultural underpinnings into how joy develops socially.
In this joyful workshop, Anna D. Hirsch, MFA, MS, will share how the science and meaning of shared joy can create upward spirals of love, connection, and freedom. Over the course of two hours, you will:

- learn current science on cross-cultural concepts of sympathetic joy, compersion, and mudita;
- learn something new about shared joy, becoming a joy ambassador in your community;
- uncover personal patterns in planning for joy with others; and
- plan for more joy together.

Meet the Facilitators
Anna D. Hirsch, MFA, MS, is a writer, artist, and registered associate marriage and family therapist in the state of California, practicing under the auspices of Grateful Heart Holistic Therapy Center. Anna's writing and editing (ActivistEditor.com, GratefulHeartTherapy.org/blog) have moved funding toward social good projects, helped shape international progressive storytelling, and supported explorations at the intersection of personal and public wellbeing. Her art has a growing internet following (Facebook.com/thenewpolyanna), and her psychotherapy practice (LiveLikeLove.com) focuses on supporting healthy relationships of all kinds. Anna envisions a world in which relationship psychotherapy practice and curriculum everywhere are inclusive and supportive of all romantic relationship models, and that psychological knowledge of and practice in compersion, or joy resonance, is common. Anna holds a BA in history and English, an MFA in creative writing, and an MS in clinical psychology.
